The purpose of ArtOwnership is to do several things:

1. To provide a source for documentation to keep track of art work for artists, galleries and collectors.

2. To provide a consistent format, easily attached to artwork.

3. To make the information easily understood.

4. To be an advocate for artists, galleries and collectors.

5. To be an objective help in many of the small issues to establish the provenance of works.
